think video...inspire learning

Working with young people is important to us, they are the professionals of tomorrow, that is why we are committed to providing high level media based training sessions/courses in higher education environments like colleges, learning centres and workplaces in Tyne & Wear. In our view, it's not always the end result or the completion of a media project that is most important,  the process the young people go through to get there can often matter the most and provide the most value.

We use the power of sport, current issues, heritage and culture to engage young people with our video projects. With associate organisations like Newcastle EBP, Newcastle United Football Club, TDR Training, NUFC Foundation, BT, Headliners and NE Music Factory, we deliver projects that inspire thinking, creativity and learning in young people.

We also provide opportunities for media graduates to experience working on corporate video projects, often allowing them to put many of their skills into practice and helping them to expand their portfolios. It is also a chance for them to learn about establishing a media enterprise, but also for them to discover how legislation can affect a video business and how marketing is crucial to surviving in this highly competitive industry.

We work with a number of educational centres in the North East including:

  • University of Newcastle
  • University of Sunderland
  • Headliners
  • Northumbria University
  • University of Durham
  • NE Music Factory (RocksCool)
  • Newcastle United Learning Centre
  • Factory Dance Academy.

Experienced trainers, our belief is that the corporate and broadcast video communications market has scope to develop much further in the North East, as a result of this, we offer a series of 'First Step' training courses that provide up to date and relevant industry knowledge for those seeking a career in corporate video, television and other supporting industries.

PillarBox Media Courses are modelled on current working practices and are designed to act as a springboard to further study. Courses such as Camera Skills, Presenting Skills and Production Management for Beginners can be delivered within centres of learning and tailored to specific groups.

The Introduction to Production Management Course has been designed for teachers, tutors and those interested in gaining further industry knowledge. It provides an overview of modern TV programme making from both a creative and a business perspective. The course also looks at the implementation of ICT within the industry as well as creative aspects like camera skill and editing.

Give us a call about our 'Workshops/Team Building Days' that cover the basics of production planning, camera skills, editing tips and practical exercises.
